KUME Co.,Ltd.
The mid-1950s was a time when the word “T-shirt” was still largely unknown. This is when Kume created the Iromarukubi (Color Crew Neck T-shirt), the precursor of the Japanese T-shirt.
The creation of the Iromarukubi at the Kume factory in Ishiwaracho, Honjo Ward, Tokyo (present day Sumida Ward) was the birth cry of Japan’s T-shirt culture.
Now for more than half of a century, our master shirt makers have been dyeing soft domestically produced fabric in colors deeply influenced by Japan’s four seasons and sewn with the utmost care.
Our company is happy and proud that our high-quality T-shirts remain longtime favorites, enjoyed for their look, design, and feel.

What can we do for children who don't have the opportunity to receive an education? You may think that we can do very little for children who live in places unknown to us. But that is actually not true. By just wearing one T-shirt, you can change the futures of children in developing countries. The T-shirt project is a project that aims to build schools for children in developing countries using profits from the sale of original T-shirts that express our passionate feelings. Room to Read cooperates with local NGOs and local village people to establish essential educational facilities such as schools and libraries in developing countries in Asia and Africa. Furthermore, it offers opportunities for education in various ways, for example by donating books in the local language and in English, etc., and by offering scholarships to allow young girls to go to school.
